Mai 2008 : le peuple palestinien commémore la Naqba – la catastrophe – survenue il y a soixante ans, lors des événements entourant la création de l’État d’Israël. Près d’un million de PalestinienNEs ont été forcés de quitter leur maison et leur terre. Israël nie à ces réfugiés et à leurs descendants leur droit de retourner, créant ainsi la plus importante population réfugiée au monde.
Nous, les 1948 soussignéEs, demandons aux éluEs du Parlement canadien et de l’Assemblée nationale du Québec
de reconnaître publiquement que la Naqba est une injustice historique faite aux PalestinienNEs et d’exiger du gouvernement israélien :
► le droit de retour (ou de compensation) pour les réfugiéEs palestinienNEs et leurs descendantEs (conformément à la Résolution 194 des Nations unies) ;
► la fin de l’occupation et du blocus de Gaza (conformément à la Résolution 242) ;
► la fin de l’occupation de la Cisjordanie et de Jérusalem Est (conformément à la Résolution 242) ;
► le démantèlement des colonies illégales de peuplement juif (conformément à la Convention de Genève) et du mur de la honte (conformément au jugement de la Cour internationale de justice) ;
► le respect du droit international.

May 2008: the Palestinian people commemorate the Nakba – the catastrophy – which occurred 60 years ago, during the events surrounding the creation of the State of Israel. Nearly one million Palestinians were forced to leave their homes and homeland. Israel denies these refugees and their descendants their right to return, and in so doing has created the world’s largest refugee population.
We, the 1948 signatories, demand that Canadian MPs and Québec MNAs
publicly recognize the Nakba as a historical injustice done to the Palestinians and demand of the Israeli government:
► the implementation of the right of return (or of compensation) to the Palestinian refugees and their descendants (in conformity with United Nations Resolution 194);
► the end of the occupation and blockade of Gaza (in conformity with UN Resolution 242);
► the end of the occupation of the West bank and East Jerusalem (in conformity with UN Resolution 242);
► the dismantlement of the illegal Jewish settlements (in conformity with the 4th Geneva Convention) and of the Apartheid Wall (in conformity with the International Court of Justice ruling);
► the implementation of international law.
